What did you learn about Andreas Hofer in school? And how did they talk about him at home? In school we learned the usual things. But at home he was always called a hero. On the other hand we had the 600 page book by Josef Hirn about the wars for freedom. Reading that they were ? that put a lot into perspective. First of all: what were the merchants of Innsbruck doing at the time? What were they doing? They were doing business with the French. There are a lot of things that don't correspond to the way history is taught. But at home I read a lot of these things when I was still relatively young. And I realised that both sides existed at the time. Not everyone was a hero, that's normal.
